Several chapters of Women’s Caucus for Art  in the region are holding a conference in September at the National Steinbeck Center Museum in Salinas to celebrate 40 years of Honoring Women’s Rights.  This is the 40th anniversary of the founding of Women’s Caucus for Art. I’ve been a member for several years and have tremendous respect for the organization.

Included in this event is an exhibit titled Visual Voices Together and entries were juried by Dr. Joyce Aiken, Dr. Ruth Weisberg and Patricia Rodrigues, and will be on view from September 7 through November 25, 2012, in the gallery at the Museum.   The conference dates are September 7th and 8th.  A catalog with the selected artworks will be published.

My painting, White Threads, was selected, and I was thrilled when I found out.  I included the following statement about the work:  “These threads that are sewn on my painting connect the past to the present and stand as a metaphor of the recognition of those women who paved the way before us and of those who will follow.”
